If you’re here, it means you’re curious about CBD — and you’re not alone. Google searches for CBD have quadrupled in recent years¹, and there is new information and research coming out every day.
Still, there are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation swirling out there about CBD. We know it can be confusing, so we’re breaking down six of the biggest myths about CBD and separating the facts from fiction.
THE MYTH: CBD WILL GET YOU HIGH
THE TRUTH: CBD is not marijuana, and it will not give you that high sensation. A lot of people mix up CBD and THC. CBD and THC are cannabinoids that are both found in the cannabis plant. CBD is non-intoxicating and non-psychoactive, so it does not have the ability to get you high. THC is the psychoactive component found in marijuana.
Broad Spectrum CBD undergoes extra processing to remove the THC component to non-detectable levels. Full Spectrum CBD does contain trace amounts of THC (less than .3%), but this amount will not get you high.
THE MYTH: CBD IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WITH ANXIETY AND CHRONIC PAIN
THE TRUTH: CBD may help ease anxiety² and soothe pain³ — and these are two of the most common uses for it⁴ — but they are definitely not the only reasons to try it. CBD has also been shown to support post-workout recovery, ease symptoms of PMS and menopause, improve sleep quality⁵, and overall help you feel more balanced. It is for anyone who’s looking to bring a little more ease, comfort, and calm into their life — and who isn’t looking for that?
THE MYTH: IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR CBD TO START WORKING
THE TRUTH: You won’t necessarily have to wait to feel the incredible perks. How long it takes CBD to kick in varies from person to person and depends on the form you’re taking. For example, you may feel the effects of tinctures and sprays more quickly because they are absorbed sublingually. Softgels, gummies, and protein powders are digested, so they may take longer to kick in.
For long-term effects, there are myths that it takes weeks to feel the benefits. Again, this varies by person, but typically you’ll begin to feel the perks within a week.
THE MYTH: CBD WILL MAKE YOU SLEEPY
THE TRUTH: While CBD will help bring on balance, calm, and peaceful vibes, it will not make you tired or sluggish. In fact, ALTWELL softgels, tinctures, and protein powder are an amazing addition to your morning routine to help you feel centered and focused throughout your day.
If you are looking for a better night’s rest, our Restful Sleep Gummies are the way to go. They are enhanced with melatonin, a naturally-produced hormone that regulates sleep, and L-theanine, an amino acid that has been shown to bring on relaxation. These compounds, combined with the calming effects of CBD will help you sleep restfully and wake up rejuvenated. CBD on its own will not make you sleepy.
THE MYTH: CBD CAN BE ADDICTING
THE TRUTH: CBD does not appear to have any addictive properties. A report from the World Health Organization says that, “evidence from well-controlled human experimental research indicates that CBD is not associated with abuse potential⁶.”
THE MYTH: ALL CBD PRODUCTS DELIVER THE SAME BENEFITS
THE TRUTH: Every type of CBD is different, so it’s important to choose the best form for you and your lifestyle. At ALTWELL, we tailor each product to deliver different benefits for different people, depending on what you’re looking for.
If you’re an athlete or workout warrior, try our Protein Powder to support your post-workout recovery and may help you form lean muscle. Looking to get glowing skin?
